In 2010, Gov. Sonny Purdue (DVM '71) and the Georgia General Assembly allocated $7.7 million in planning money for the Veterinary Medical Learning Center. The planning money, which was part of a construction bond package approved by the legislature, will enable the UGA Office of the University Architects to complete construction documents for the facility, and for site work to begin.
In order to request and secure construction funds from the General Assembly, it is expected that we raise $15 million of the total project estimate of $113 million. We have raised $5.3 million thus far, and plan to raise the remaining funds by spring 2011. Here's how you can help.
On Thursday, September 16, 2010, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia announced that Perkins & Will is the architectural firm hired to design the new hospital.
